I've just checked the code and it seems there is no sync before 
shutdown. Maybe disk caches/fileststem handling is the same, but 
shutdown handling could change.

Anyway, would adding one sys_s_ync() call to sys_s_hutdown() kill us?

(btw. I completly agree at 4.)
