On the second snapshot look at on the Papyrus icon, only the lower half 
is selected and active on double-clicking

Yes, after the start it is OK, but for example select the a few icons 
it look like please see Atari Works, Inkaust icon and other icons, it is 
very strange.
Please look at on the new snapshot

In the xaaes.cnf the line xaaes-background-colour is inacive
#back_col = 13
but there is the same problem
