Why? Although I have this feature on my PC's, I never use it. Because if
I accidentally deleted a file, I usually notice it immediately. So I can
just drag it back from the trashcan to it's original position.

OTOH if I check the trashcan before emptying it and I find a file I'd
like to keep, I never use the "recover"-feature because I wouldn't know
where it's restored...

So in real life I don't think the "restore"-feature is essential. Having
a trashcan would be nice though.

Correct.

Well, if everything was to work like on other OSes, we could just use
one of those, couldn't we? ;)

Inside the trashcan there could be links to the individual
trashcan-folders. So the trashcan would be just like any other directory
window.

A trashcan can quite easily be cleanly implemented as an add-on to all
AV-aware desktops if you omit the "restore"-feature.
