 yup!  well if you make them long enough the probability(sp?) for
errors can be smaller than that of a gamma particle flipping a bit
in DRAM but with 32 bits... :)

 ok.  but then there are more things in MiNT that are not safe,
like disk changes, or the (in)famous exec/Mshrink race condition
causing spurious malloc failures...
