Nice idea, but I think it's wishfull thinking.

In case you're unaware of the procedure for creating newsgroups,
here's how it goes:

1) submit a proposition to the "new groups" newsgroup,
explaining what could justify the creation of this
newsgroup, why existing newsgroups aren't appropriate.

2) brace for people on other platforms to object, during
   the one-month open debate.

3) expect Amiga and PC people to vote against it and outnumber
the Atari crowd, when the time comes. They will submit
that Atari is dead and our small number will prove them right.

This is exactly what happened, when people tried to create a
comp.sys.atari.networking (or whatever the proposed name was).

Likewise, when people tried to eliminate comp.sys.atari.anounce,
when its moderator could not be found anymore. Basically, Amiga
and PC people consider Atari as extinct and unimportant, so they c
find any proposition to expand our horizons as unjustified.

We have been thinking about this, at Fishpool. ;-))
