It was previously described a few months back.  This was when you
mentioned that it was probably caused by the new registration ovl.

Btw, I seem to have found the problem:  NVDI conflicts with Thing.
Booting without NVDI (5.01) fixes everything... excpet the slow
screen redraws and missing TTF support...
