Exactly one have to switch off the cache, at least that is so on a 
Hades.
To boost up the boot process I switch the cache on right before set_mmu

I switch the cache off in mint.cnf
exec u:\c\autorun\CACHE_OF.PRG 
echo
INIT=u:\boot\mint\init.prg
#GEM=u:\c\n_aes\n_aes030.sys

>From n_aes.cnf I switch on the cache again
run c:\autorun\cache_on.prg

This works ok for me.
