any linux based console uses them, so there are thousands of font

also they are VGA screen fonts, which can be loaded into the video in VGA mode

This means it is possible to use them directly on the video card when
set to full screen (non-GEM/VDI) mode

Weather or not this is usable/practical on Atari based machines in
another question.
