We don't need another one. Also, when hotkeys is the only way to set desktop image it's impossible to include desktop images as a part of a theme. The desktop image should either be specified in xaaes.cnf or byDo you have an elaborated concept for this? Or even better: a patch?copying desk.img to the texture-folder.You can do that already.

Besides, how is the state of the background image (and the image itself) saved?It's a screen-capture.
Which is saved where and in what format? How do you disable it? By deleting the file? How about different colour-depths? How's that handled?
