Drive seems ok. I haven't actually used it yet and since the milan now takes 5 mins to app switch I can't do anything else.

This is mke2fs 1.27 and not fsck.

The drive is master on the second ide bus but I noticed the end connector on the new cable is labelled secondary.  Does this affect things ?

Is the disk physically working OK?  If there are frequent
disk errors things take a lot of time...
