Window Resolutions

Is it possible if one has a screen with a minimum res. of 640 x 480 and 4096
color pallete with the ability to provide individual sub-palettes per window.
Thus, if the user opens a program requesting ST-Low, it will open a 320x256x16
res window and this window would have it's own local pallete info. On the
same screen the user can open up a program that request ST-High (which the two
colors can be selected from the STe compatible global screen pallete). Each
window can have it's own widget and pallete preferences (ala MUI from Amiga).
The screen would have setting for global preferences. Is this possible or are
the ST resolutions "hard wired" and can only reside on one screen. I think
some of the PC ST emulators allow the user to have multiple Window resolutions.
