[MiNT] Newbie-problems with installation of RPM
Hi there,
I've just downloaded the RPM for MiNT and several packages. But whenever
I want to install a package I get an error message. When I try
installing bash, RPM complains:
'bash ##unpacking of archive failed on file
/bin/bash: cpio: link failed - link across devices'.
With all other packages it says e.g.:
'bash-doc unpacking of archive failed on file
/usr/doc/bash-doc-2.03/article.ps: cpio: read failed - file not found'.
I'm not a MiNT-expert, so: which link fails, which file is not found and
what does that all mean?
My configuration is: No complete MiNT-distribution installed yet, I've
used MiNT so far only with N.AES. I extracted the rpm.tar.gz archive in
a directory h:\SpareMiNT\ and put in mint.cnf links like 'sln
h:\SpareMiNT\bin u:\bin' for all main directories. As I haven't
installed a command shell yet, I renamed /bin/rpm to /bin/rpm.ttp and
started it via THING using the options '-Uvh' and the local environment
'HOME=u:\home\'. The start directory is the application's.
I hope anyone can help me.
Bye, Michael.
