[MiNT] kernel 1.15.8 again :)

Hi people,

Strange thing I noticed today, 
If I boot with a floppy inserted and NON WRITEABLE, mint when booting will
access it several times and complain a lot, like, can not open
/dev/console, can not open /cat/null etc.
WHy is the floppy needed at all?
Why does the compiled binary access it? is that a new feature or a bug of 
some sort?
