Sorry, there is a big difference to allow SMTP connections from EVERY IP
or just allow SMTP connections from subnets.

I can't see any useful reason (except spamming) that a modem user from
land xxx (xxx != poland) can use the SMTP server from your ISP.

No, the problem is the internet technique. SMTP was never designed to be
safe. And open relays open every spammer the base to spam.

Btw. if you have a server on the internet you open it to for everyone? So
that everyone can use it (and for sure, there will also be people that do
illegal things).

Infact, open relays are exactly the same (just only for e-mail).

Yes, elimination of the wrong working and inaccpetable technique is the
only way to solve it. Btw. since some time also SMTP with authentification
is available. Why not simply use that technique? Oh, then spamming becomes
impossible ...
