Outdated... Yes, it was 1.14.0(1) but it wasn't my fault! I installed the last
RPM of bash: Version 3.0.4 (IIRC)... but the binary wasn't here. I forced a
second installation and I finally got the new version... with differents bugs!
;-)
Now, when I open several console windows, only the first one can use the history
list (up and down arrows). Bash 1.14.0 had its history list for each window.
The second annoying problem is that I can't use shutdown in a console any more.
I used to use "shutdown -r now" or "shutdown -h now". I was very surprised that
this worked just like under Linux. Now, "shutdown" writes its usual message in
console window and on full screen... and that's all. Nothing else happens. I can
type several times "shutdown -h now". That's definitively weird.
Something was broken... But what? If only it could be that DELETE key bug...

I should have said "My Minix partitions are limited to 30 chars". I know I could
have 62 but I really thought that 30 was enough. When I first used Minix
partitions, that was huge compared to 8+3... but not that huge finally. Now it's
too late cause I don't feel like copying tons of files with "cp". Too slow...
And I don't think that the fixed size directory layout is an issue... it's a
feature. ;-) We lived with that feature for a long time with TOS and we
weren't so snob to complain. ;-) That was the way it was and that's the way
minix is.
See you,
