OK, maybe I'm a bit too optimistic about it. However, I would like a real
virtual memory support under MiNT (with mmap() and the like), so we can
have real shared libraries (using ELF of course, this is why I would like
to have support for it in binutils).

Having mmap() is not sufficient for ELF shared libraries ...

But _static_ ELF support is an important step to dynamically linked executables. Why don't you just go ahead and start with that? It will be a fair amount of work and it has to be done anyway. Once, MiNT supports static object files, and statically linked executables, there is at least a solid base for developping the dynamic stuff.
