It's not?

It has been possible for at least 15 years with most hard disk drivers!

Just enter the drive letter you want to boot from with the keyboard once
hddriver (or cbhd or hushi or...) starts to display the device list. This will
temporarily override the boot drive set in hddriver's preferences.

If you've got very few devices, set the TOS to do the memory test, and press
the drive letter key twice in short order. Once to abort the memory test, the
second to go into the keyboard buffer to be picked up by hddriver.
