Does it say "DEBUG_INFO" when you're booting?  The checks for whether to
print debugging info or not could be slowing things down enough to
notice (maybe).

Have you run GEM-Bench or something with MH-MiNT 1.12h2 and "pure" MiNT
1.12?  That would show if things are slower, and how much, which might
also be a clue for our kernel gurus.
