Porting Software

While trying to compile suck2.6.3 to add nntp support to my MintNet setup
I came across an ERRNO that isn't supported by the mint libs. It is ENODATA.
I substituted EGENERIC and so far it seems to run OK. Does anyone know if
that is a safe substitution or if I should use something else?

I also applied the tin 1.22 patches to tin 1.3beta and so far it seems stable
too, although I haven't tested the new tin features yet.

Is there a doc somewhere that will help with porting software.
