Don't say nobody uses it, i find it quite usefull. For example, when
i start a process in the background from which i don't expect any
output, but then there is an error and the process puts out some error
message, chances are that the message is scrolled out of the screen by
the output of the foreground process. But when the background process
is stopped i can put it into the foreground later and have enough time
to read the message.

No, don't change MiNT, it's the wrong place.
