And this was indeed the problem!  My old MINT.CNF had spaces in the
commands, like so:

sln g:\var      u:\var

so that several commands would line up neatly.  When I went to edit the
new one that came with 1.14.X, I put tabs in there.

BTW, it seems as though it would be trivial to make FreeMiNT parse
tabs and spaces as equivalent, and it makes sense to do so, IMHO.  I
can even look at the sources and see if I could make the change
myself.  Is there any reason not to do so?

I'm not sure what else has changed, but I'm no longer getting the
/pipe/log errors under 1.14.X that I was getting under 1.12.6.  :^)

Thanks for the help, everybody!  Now maybe I can start trying some real
"work" under MiNT.  :^)
