So I guessed, but eth0 just makes more sense, when reading 
ifconfig or route responses.

Which is rather sad, because it's a realy efficient, fast and
easily understood kind of Unix; very SRV, yet more modern.

Then again, the idiot currently CEO of sgi.com comes (afaik)
from Intel, which explains a lot of things.  The same thing
happened with HP, mind you, and Compaq bought Digital too.

Seems to me, despite the rising popularity of Unices (especialy
Linux), someone out there is on a crusade to Wintelize every
remaining alternative out there, from the top on.... *sigh*

I guess uncle Bill sent them nice, cuddly, high-paid blowjobers...
