I had reported the problem with Thing and MP many years ago
and it certainly failed to start under 1.15.12, 1.16 and I think
1.17, I can't remember if I bothered to try it since it had never
worked before.

With 1.18 it is starting properly, maybe something else in my
boot set-up has changed if your explanation is correct.

Thanks, I will leave MP running for a while and see what else
might work.
