IMHO bad analogy.  Virtual memory etc. need a (proper) MMU which 68000
doesn't have.  Unix without VM wouldn't be much use, would it? :-)

Just curious...  What things 'modern GEM programs' need that ST can't
provide?  AES limitations can be fixed with a new sw AES, can't they?
VM etc. issues on the other hand should be dealt (transparently) by
kernel, not applications.
