Could you explain that?

ar 2.9.1 produces archives in a new format, namely the format that ld
2.9.1 and all other binutils expect.  With "arconv" from the package
"mintbin" you can convert your old libraries to the new format:

	arconv /usr/lib/X11.olb -o /usr/lib/libX11.a

There are quite a few libraries on the Sparemint servers and all packages
have been built with libs created by ar 2.9.1.  I really doubt that this
ar produces broken binaries.
