Using FreeMiNT and GEM=ROM, I can copy a 40 MB file from C: to D: using the desktop without any trouble. It takes a dozen of seconds or more.
Maybe there is an XHDI issue, or you have hardware trouble with your CompactFlash card or FireBee, or maybe power supply issues...
Sorry, I have no more idea (we will see what happens on EmuTOS + FreeMiNT, some day :-) )
